Known issues

We strive to make EdgeRover™ an effortless and enjoyable experience to all users. That said, we still encounter issues that surface periodically, usually due to technical constraints, third parties, and security reasons.

Sources

EdgeRover doesn’t work with NAS devices.

Description: EdgeRover doesn’t work with NAS devices. You can’t map network shares or add your NAS devices as a Source to be cataloged in EdgeRover.

Solution: View our supported products and check back for updates.

Facebook can’t be added as a source after permissions are changed.

Description: After you log in to Facebook, an Edit access link appears. If edit access is disabled, EdgeRover notifies you that Facebook can’t be added as a source and provides a link to retry.

Catalogs and cataloging

Uninstalling EdgeRover on Microsoft Windows might not remove the catalog completely.

Description: When you’re notified that the software is uninstalled, a process to delete the catalog continues running in the background.

Solution: Avoid shutting down or rebooting for at least 20 minutes after the uninstallation process is completed.

Cataloging on macOS requires a restart after granting access.

Description: EdgeRover requires access to your folders to catalog your content. If you don’t enable access, EdgeRover notifies you that it’s a requirement.

Solution: Follow the steps in the full help article to solve this issue.

Apple Photos Library might stop being cataloged.

Description: EdgeRover only catalogs the System Photos Library. A Photos Library might cease to be the System Photos Library, which stops the cataloging process.

Solution: You need to select which Photos Library is the System Photos Library.

Facebook file names aren’t cataloged.

Description: Facebook renames files when they’re uploaded. When those files are cataloged, EdgeRover only knows their Facebook name, which is a number.

Solution: The file name in EdgeRover is the number, not the original name of the file uploaded to Facebook.

Files

Files in cloud sources aren’t included in the Duplicates widget.

Description: EdgeRover's Duplicates widget only lists identical files that are cataloged from your internal and external storage sources.

Apple iWork files in Google Drive are shown in the Photos category.

Description: When iWork Pages, Numbers, and Keynote files are stored in Google Drive, they're incorrectly classified as Photoshop files.

Solution: If the same files are in internal or external storage sources after they’re cataloged, they’re correctly displayed in the EdgeRover.
