Introduction to EdgeRover™
For many years, Western Digital® has provided hardware and software data storage solutions to help customers capture and preserve their data. Now we’re combining all our software functionality into one, easy-to-use application. We call this powerful new software EdgeRover.
With EdgeRover, you don’t just manage the content on your devices. You experience it. We put it at your fingertips and give you bold, intelligent tools that keep it clean, optimized, and under your control.
EdgeRover consists of many features, and we’re working on new ones every day. These features are best categorized into two distinct groups: device management and content management.
Device management
You can fully utilize many Western Digital and SanDisk® devices using only your computer’s operating system. For example, you can plug in a USB flash drive, drag and drop files onto it, and then safely remove it. However, some devices require proprietary software to access all of their features. For instance, when you password protect your WD™ My Passport™. EdgeRover provides access to these special features and more.
EdgeRover also provides you with an aggregated view of your devices. With EdgeRover, your devices can be viewed, accessed, and configured in one, convenient place.
Content management
In addition to being perfect for Western Digital-branded devices, EdgeRover works with many other content sources – internal and external drives, social media, and cloud storage sources. EdgeRover creates a single view of the content stored on all your supported sources. With EdgeRover, you can finally organize your content from one, convenient application.
