Cataloging progress
Cataloging scans storage devices to gather information, generate thumbnails/previews, and organizing the content automatically. The Cataloging status you see while it's running refers specifically to the progress EdgeRover™ has made scanning files and generating thumbnails/preview. Organizing your content is a process that happens after, in the background.
The status includes states such as the following:
- Nothing cataloged yet
- Cataloging
- Paused
- Cataloging complete
The cataloging status of individual devices can be seen below each device.
Individual devices might show states like:
- Preparing
- Cataloging X %
- Cataloged
- Cataloged X days ago
- Cataloging paused
Cataloging might be paused due to several reasons. For example:
- This device is no longer connected. Connect your device to automatically resume cataloging.
- Cataloging paused to conserve battery. Connect your laptop to power to resume.
- You've reached 100% of the maximum Catalog size, so we cannot add any new items to it.
- There isn't enough space on your storage device to add new content to the Catalog. You can delete unwanted files from your computer to free up space for the catalog.
Cataloging might appear to be stuck, but in fact it isn't. For example:
- If you have tens of thousands of files, cataloging might take many hours.
- If you unplug an external device being cataloged, cataloging stops.
- When you switch back to the software after doing something else on your computer, it may take a few seconds for the window to refresh and show the current status.
- You can see the number of devices currently being cataloged in the tab at the bottom of the main menu. Click the tab to view the cataloging progress of each source under "Add & Manage Your Sources."
