Source settings

In EdgeRover™, you can change the Source settings on some external Sources. Which settings are available depends on the features supported by the device. For example, not all devices allow you to control the “Sleep timer” option.

The Source settings include the following:

  • Rename Source
  • LED
  • Sleep timer

To navigate to Source settings:

  1. Click the Sources tab from the main menu.
  2. Select the Source you want to edit, and click the Ellipsis icon.
  3. Click Source settings from the drop-down menu. EdgeRover lists the available settings in the details panel.

Rename device

When you rename your external Sources, use a descriptive name to help you identify it later. Choose a name that’s personal, so you can quickly identify your devices in the future.

Caution: If you’ve installed software on your external source, don’t rename it. The software looks for files under the old name.

To rename your external Source:

  1. Click Edit in the Source settings details panel.
  2. Enter the new name.
  3. Click Done .

LED

The device LED helps you understand the different statuses of your external Source. For example, if your device is plugged in or ejected, the LED might display a certain color or flash type.

Note: Only certain devices have the LED setting option.

To toggle the LED, click the toggle bar next to “LED” in the Source settings details panel. This turns the LED on or off.

Sleep timer

The Sleep timer reduces power to your drive. After you designate a period of inactivity in the Source settings details panel, the Sleep timer conserves power and minimizes long-term wear on the drive.

Note: This setting is only available on certain devices.

To set the Sleep timer, click the drop-down menu next to “Sleep timer” in the Source settings details panel. Select the number of minutes after which the device goes to sleep.
