Introduction to Collections
Collections are groupings of your content. They’re designed to make it effortless to browse items that are related to each other.
Automatic Collections
Automatic Collections contain content that was grouped together for you. There are two types, For You and Places.
For You includes images grouped by the subject contained within them. The images are privately analyzed on your computer, not in the cloud.
Note: Computer analysis of images with Artificial Intelligence isn’t perfect. You might find disorganized images.
Places includes photos grouped together by the location information in the files. EdgeRover™ can only use photos with location information in them for these collections, such as photos taken on a smartphone with location services turned on.
Tip: You can use the Search function to find your categorized items. For example, if you have a Collection called Bird, photos in that Collection are returned when you search for “Bird” in the Search field.
Manual Collections
Manual Collections allow you to group items so they’re easier to find. They can contain cataloged items, such as photos, videos, office documents, and music files, similar to a scrapbook.
A file might be included in multiple collections. Collections contain references to the actual file but not the file itself, which might be on an internal or external storage device.
Social media albums
Social Media Albums are view-only collections that can’t be edited in EdgeRover. When you add social media sources, the albums defined in those sources are imported as EdgeRover collections. When you change the source of the album, the collections are updated automatically.
The items in these collections are tagged automatically, so you can search and browse them like any other items in your EdgeRover catalog. You can also add them to your Manual Collections.
